  • Advised customer to replace 2 camshaft solenoids (passenger side) & authorized repair. Removed & replaced 2 cam solenoids. Cleared check engine light & road tested, check engine light returned. Performed further testing & checked engine timing for balance shaft issue. Balance shaft OK. Performed SDS self-test, found timing chain stretched & replace timing chain. Advise customer timing chain will need to be replaced before smog check. *NOTE* Also fault code for intake manifold (P0521-Charge movement flap bank 1 malfunction).
  • Front tires set @ 32 PSI, Rear tires set @ 34 PSI.
  • Installed new bumper brackets & rivets to reseat bumper back into place.
  • Removed & replaced wiper blades at no labor cost (parts only) to customer.
  • Replace Engine Oil & Filter. Test, check, & correct all fluid levels. Perform vehicle inspection. Check condition of brakes & tires (rotate if applicable). Road test & check for any suspension & transmission issues.
  • Sent vehicle to car wash as complimentary service for customer.
  • Verified complaint, attempted to connect MB DAS & vehicle did not power on. Checked fuses, found main fuse for front SAM (signal acquisition module) higher rated amperage (should be 30 AMP, 50 AMP installed). Called, advised customer & authorized teardown of front windshield cowling to inspect front SAM. Removed windshield wiper assembly & upper engine cover. Inspected SAM & ME (Motor Electronics), replaced front SAM with known good unit as first step & vehicle powered on (no-start). Connected vehicle to MB DAS, would not communicate with ME. Called, advised customer & authorized repair for $ 3600 on 9/29/2020 @ 12:37 PM. * CUSTOMER LEFT $ 1,000 DEPOSIT * Removed & replaced front SAM & ME. Reassembled vehicle, sent vehicle for SCN Coding.

Found the following fault codes: 2E85- BSD, electric coolant pump low flow (CURRENT) 2DEB- DME Power management vehicle electrical system (STORED) 2A00- Secondary Air Injection malfunction (STORED) 29D2- DME Combustion misfire cylinder 6 (STORED) Performed function test, found Secondary Air Injection system working but water pump not keeping up with demand flow. Called, advised customer & authorized repair on 9/30/2020 @ 1:37 PM for additional $ 1475. Drained coolant, removed electric fan assembly & drive belt system. Removed electric water pump & thermostat to replace as part of assembly. Reassembled & cleared Service Engine Soon light. Road tested, no more fault code for Water Pump, but pending code for Secondary Air Injection. Advise customer to monitor & return when Service Engine Soon light activates.

Allowed vehicle to cool, blocked off mass airflow meter & exhaust system. Performed smoke test, found very fine leak coming from fuel cap. Examined fuel cap & found slightly loose (will not click down tight on 3rd click & remains loose). Replaced fuel cap with known good testing unit & performed smoke test, no leaks. Connected vehicle to MB Xentry & perform self-test, passed. Road tested vehicle, no check engine light. Advise customer to replace fuel cap with new unit & monitor check engine light activation.

Check engine light turned off on its own while vehicle was being serviced. Performed timing chain check, found chain moving excessively when crankshaft is turned.   • Disconnected ignition coils & wires, gapped & removed/replaced spark plugs. Torqued to spec & reassembled. Road tested, OK now.
  • Front tires set to 32 PSI, rear tires set to 34 PSI.
  • Lifted vehicle, removed electrical connector to wiring harness & removed oxygen sensor. Installed new sensor.
  • Verified complaint, connected vehicle to MB DAS & performed diagnostic. Found the following fault codes: + P0410- Secondary air injection malfunction + P0303- Misfiring cylinder 3 + P0420- Catalyst efficiency, bank 1 Inspected vacuum lines, found lines to purge valve broken causing air injection malfunction. Replaced broken vacuum lines & cleared fault code. Advise customer to replace ignition coil # 3, spark plug # 3, and after-catalyst oxygen sensor. Operated vehicle for duration of 5 complete drive cycles to complete smog monitors. All monitors complete except for Evap. Sent vehicle to Smog It Test Center for Smog.
